Maas Lab
Maas Lab is a collaboration between the river Maas, artists platform SoAP and TAAT.
The Maas Lab explores a new paradigm for a multispecies community.
With, through and in the Maas we ask ourselves: how do we organise, collaborate and co-create as a multispecies community? The experiential and embodied interaction with the Maas is at the very core of Maas Lab. Maas Lab is an experiment, a serious attempt to do a multispecies community.
The Maas Lab research is like a performative gesture that carefully touches and embraces the unknown. It includes the Maas Wacht (allows people to spend time with the Maas and to explore a direct, reciprocal care-relationship), Residencies for artists and designers, the Meerstemmige Samenkomst (Polyphonic Assembly) (aims to practice multispecies gathering), the Maas Walk (artists walking the entire length of the Maas), the Institute (a body of initiatives and corresponding human individuals that in their own way support and care for the Maas), the DAAR (a body of non-human entities that the Maas has given the Maas Lab, the Maas Bot (river-powered micro-site) and the Print Book (exclusively made from locally sourced, natural materials)
Maas Lab is part of the Innovatielabs#2 program, funded by the Fund Creative Industries NL.
